Exhibition named "Peace During War"
Exhibition of photographs made in Kosovo by Irina Lomko and Russian peacekeepers was open yesterday at 16 hrs at the UN Information Center in Moscow on the occasion of the International Peace Day. The speakers at the ceremony were Karen Chalyan, SPA UNMIK (Mitrovitsa), peacekeeping veterans Oleg Rubezhov (UNMIK), Eugene Komlyakov (UNTSO), Anatoly Isaenko (UNTSO), Mars Smagin (MINURSO) as well as young peacemakers Maria Butskih (School of Arts # 32) and Natalia Novikova (Secondary School # 1239). The last reported about complition of mission of peace in the Ukraine. Closing the ceremony the peacekeeping veterans assisted by young peacemakers planted the "Tree of Peace" (X-mas tree of 2 years) in the court of the Center. The exhibition of photos "Peace During War" will be open till October 3, 2002.

Peace Day 2002 will be Marked by Peace Education Net
a) Flag Parade will be organized on the 17-th of September at the Secondary school # 554. Among the guests of the parade are Oleg Mironov, the Commissioner on Human Rights in the RF as well as correspondents of TVC and TV Center. b) Young peacemakers of the Eastern district of Moscow plan to mark the IPD September 20 at the Secondary school # 318 with flag marching and lessons of peace. c) The meeting of young peacemakers with UN peacekeeping veterans is planned for September 23 at the UN Information Center in Moscow. The program includes opening of photo exhibition "Peace During War in Kosovo", singing songs on peace and planting the "Tree of Peace" in the court of the Center.

Peace Day 2002 will be marked on the 21-st of September
According to the information received from the UN Information Center in Moscow the International Peace Day this year and on will be marked September 21-st. The corresponding Resolution (55/282) was adopted by the UN GA on the 7th of September 2001.

Council of veterans of peacekeeping operations for civilian policemen
Russian civpols are about to register soon their NGO - the Council of Veterans of peacekeeping operations of Russian civilian policemen and servicemen of the interior forces. The elected chairman of the NGO is Colonel Vladimir Rusakov, veteran of UN operations in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosova.

New Internet address of the Museum
By the end of August the Museum obtained his new address in the Internet - http://www.un-museum.ru which will increase the opportunities of peace education among Russian scholars. With the progress of new virtual version there may be open the registration of users to easy access to the data base and issues of "Museum of Peacekeeping Operations Bulletin".

Mission of peace was successfuly completed
35 young peacemakers returned yesterday to Moscow from the Ukraine. During their stay in the city of Alushta (Crimea) they organized competitions in sports, climbed the mountain Dimerdjy and made the performances which contributed into strengthening friendly relations between Russian and Ukrainian parties.

Song of the First Soviet UNMOs
Captain Valery Kouzmine was one of the first Soviet officers to come to the Middle East in the end of Arab-Israely war in 1973 with the peacekeeping mission. In the end of November he and other 35 Soviets were enlisted into UNTSO. The problems and feelings of the first Soviet peacekeepers are clearly expressed in the song contributed into Museum funds by Lt.Col (ret.) Valery Kouzmine. The song was written by a friend of Valery Kouzmine Vladimir Mamon in 1974.

37-th Secondary School to Enter Peace Education Net
The Secondary school # 587 (Western district of Moscow) became the member of Peace Education Net — the education project initiated in January 2002 by Moscow Institute of Open Education and the Museum of Peacekeeping Operations in collaboration with the UN Information Center in Moscow. The school # 587 is well known in Moscow for its social activities. It has organized the memorial activities on the occasion of the Victory Day in May 2002 and the round table "The International Terrorism as the Global Problem of XXI Century". Summer Camps of Young Peacemakers
There will be 3 camps of young peacemakers organized by Moscow Institute of Open Education in collaboration with the Museum of Peacekeeping Operations for the member-schools of Peace Education Net during summer: a) June 11 through June 16 - in the city of Stupino (Moscow region); b) July 1 through July 6 - in the city of Moscow at the "Leader" Training Center; c) in July (during 21 days) - in the Republic of Bulgaria or in the Ukraine.

Certificate "School of Peace-2002"
The UN Information Centre in Moscow and Museum of Peacekeeping Operations worked out the proforma to certify the schools participating in the project "Model of UN Peacekeeping — Peace Education Net". The Certificates will be handed over May 15 to the following schools: the music school # 32, the secondary schools ## 51, 56, 71, 271, 297, 318, 554, 789, 792, 1016,1148, 1150, 1224, 1237, 1239, 1289, 1297, 1302, 1411, 1414, gymnaziums ## 1508, 1509, 1527, 1532, Linguistic Liceum # 1555, Training Center # 1804, the secondary school # 1948, as well as to private schools — "Aspects of Education", "Premier", Russian International School, "Lomonosov's school", school "Ellada", European gymnazium, Trainig Center "Lider".
